Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) was established through Legal Notice Number 78 of 12th June, 1998 under State Corporations Act, Cap 446 Laws of Kenya; updated/ amended through Legal Notice Number 56 of 18th April, 2002 and Legal Notice Number 40 of 1st March, 2021. It is located along Nandi Road in Eldoret Town, Uasin Gishu County. MTRH is a Multi-Specialty National Teaching and Referral Hospital serving the Western half of Kenya (23 Counties with a population of over 25 million people, Eastern Uganda, Southern Sudan, Northern Tanzania, and Democratic Republic of Congo amongst other areas. MTRH is also a critical player in advancing the Government’s drive towards the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), The Kenya Vision 2030 – Social Pillar and the Kenyan Constitution.
